This program is designed to help students explore cutting-edge research opportunities, work with qualified mentors, and contribute to innovative projects in the field of machine learning.
The first week of our program is entirely dedicated to consuming ML fundamentals through lectures and work. We provide interactive ways for this learning to happen, including Jupyter Notebooks and sessions for questions! This will be a primer to guide students through research in the rest of the program.
The next 3 weeks of our program will be dedicated to thorough research on either an assigned topic or a topic that students can choose themselves with approval. Mentors will provide resources on previous literature surrounding the topic and further prime students to research their topic, and will meet with students around 5 times a week. By the end of the program, students will have a manuscript ready to submit to journals, a process which they may be further guided on after the program.
We believe in a consistent approach to teach students about ML and conduct research. Students will be taught in a manner that optimizes for learning by teaching the fundamentals clearly, at which point they can quickly grasp new concepts. A unique feature of our program is to require all code written by students in the course of the research to be saved and disclosed to mentors, providing thorough transparency throughout the research process and preventing students from being on papers where data was falsified. Another unique feature of our program is to allow students to theorize a roadmap for their research prior to their instruction.
